Sterling's Starry Glow
Above your bed so high and bright,
The stars come out to say goodnight,
They twinkle soft in silver beams,
To guard you in your peaceful dreams.
The moon looks down with gentle face,
And fills the dark with silver lace,
She hums a tune so low and true,
My little star, sweet Sterling, you.
Each night sky sings a lullaby,
To rock my tiny baby high,
The glowing light will never fade,
As dreams come down on starlight laid.

What does the name Sterling mean?
Origin — Old English
From the silver penny of the Norman kings, which gave English “sterling” for anything of standard purity.
Where sources disagree: The coin’s own name is unresolved. The traditional derivation is steorra, “star”, for the small star stamped on early pennies; the Oxford English Dictionary prefers a link to the Easterlings, the north-German merchants whose coinage was trusted for its consistency.
We follow the standard reference works on given names, and we say so plainly when a meaning is unsettled rather than choosing the prettiest one.
