A Nursery Rhyme for Scarlett

A free, original lullaby written just for the name Scarlett — ready to read tonight or turn into a keepsake poster.

Scarlett's Starry Night

Little Scarlett, soft and small,

The moon hangs bright above it all,

Silver beams on blankets spread,

Gently resting on your bed.

Stars are winking, one by one,

Night has only just begun,

Scarlett sleeps in rosy light,

Held so safe throughout the night.

Twinkling diamonds, soft and near,

Whisper lullabies so clear,

Scarlett dreams in crimson hue,

Wrapped in skies of midnight blue.

What does the name Scarlett mean?

Origin — English

An occupational surname for a dyer or seller of scarlet cloth, from the Old French escarlate.

Its use as a first name is almost entirely due to Scarlett O’Hara in Margaret Mitchell’s Gone with the Wind (1936).

We follow the standard reference works on given names, and we say so plainly when a meaning is unsettled rather than choosing the prettiest one.

A rhyme written around Scarlett

Every BabyVerse verse is built around one name and its sound, so Scarlett hears their own name carried through the meter rather than dropped into a blank. That is the whole difference between a keepsake and a personalised product: the words could not be reused for another child.

Parents read it at bedtime. Grandparents and godparents frame it. Either way it is the one gift on the table that no one else can duplicate — which is why it tends to outlast everything else in the pile.
