A Nursery Rhyme for Sage

A free, original lullaby written just for the name Sage — ready to read tonight or turn into a keepsake poster.

Sage and the Silver Stars

Little Sage in cradles soft,

Moonlight paints the ceiling loft,

Stars peek through the window high,

Twinkling hello from the sky.

Sage, the owl hums soft and low,

While the evening breezes blow,

Star by star the dark turns deep,

Gentle worlds go off to sleep.

One small star for Sage stays bright,

Kissing cheeks with silver light,

Rocking slow in night's embrace,

Angel light upon your face.

What does the name Sage mean?

Origin — Latin, two separate roots

English merged two Latin words here: the herb sage, from salvia (related to salvus, “healthy”, because it was a medicinal plant), and the adjective sage, “wise”, from sapius.

We follow the standard reference works on given names, and we say so plainly when a meaning is unsettled rather than choosing the prettiest one.

A rhyme written around Sage

Every BabyVerse verse is built around one name and its sound, so Sage hears their own name carried through the meter rather than dropped into a blank. That is the whole difference between a keepsake and a personalised product: the words could not be reused for another child.

Parents read it at bedtime. Grandparents and godparents frame it. Either way it is the one gift on the table that no one else can duplicate — which is why it tends to outlast everything else in the pile.
